Artemisia Annua tincture
Artemisia Annua
Description
Product description
The Latin name is Artemisia annua. Other Dutch names are: Summer Wormwood, Sweet Wormwood, Annual Mugwort or Sweet Annie. It is a large and beneficial, camphor-like-scented, annual plant with a bright green fine leaf and inconspicuous small green-yellow flowers. In China this plant is called Qing Hao and is one of the most important herbs since ancient Chinese times.
The sweet or annual wormwood grows fast just like wild mugwort and has a soft appearance and a striking fresh scent with bright green fern-like leaves and cloudy bright yellow flower clusters. The plant can grow to 2 meters high and is part of a genus with 500 species that mainly grow in temperate climates of Eurasia and North America. Annual mugwort is actually a half shrub and grows on sandy, well-drained, slightly calcareous soil in the sun but tolerates less favorable conditions such as drought and poor soil well. The perennial mugwort multiplies by the seeds being carried by the wind or via the rhizomes. The annual artemisia is less dominant and does not occur in the wild in the Netherlands.
