Tree of heaven tincture
Ailanthus Altissima
Description
Product description
Latin name: Ailanthus altissima. The Tree of Heaven, God's Tree, Chinese Ash or Chumak is also called Stinker because of the unpleasant smell of the leaves and flowers. It is a fast-growing, strong tree that grows to 25 to 30 meters high.
When the maximum height of 25 m is reached, the tree has a width of about 15 m. The inflorescence of this Stinker is characterized by very large, compound leaves on which large white plumes with yellow-green or pink-red fruits appear.
It has its origins in China and Korea and is slowly spreading across the western world. The Ailanthus is known as an invasive tree species and that is why in the Netherlands they are trying to ban the sale and keeping of the Ailanthus. That is a shame because the Ailanthus grows where other trees do not want to grow, for example in extremely urbanized areas.
